The CentraState Family Medicine Residency Program, in partnership with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, announces the graduation of six family medicine residents who have trained in their field for three years. All of the physicians have passed their board certification exams.

“At a time when family medicine physicians are in high demand, especially in New Jersey, we are proud of the high-quality, comprehensive, community-based training that our medical residents are exposed to during their program,” said Maria Ciminelli, MD, FAAFP and program director of family medicine, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. “Each one impressed our faculty with their deep medical knowledge and emotional intelligence, making them superb physicians who will lead family medicine into the future.”

The curriculum includes rotations through inpatient units at CentraState Medical Center, as well as opportunities to care for patients and residents in three CentraState senior living facilities—Applewood, Monmouth Crossing Assisted Living and The Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center. Many go on to an additional year in CentraState’s geriatric fellowship program.

The CentraState Family Medicine Residency Program Class of 2023 has begun training. The class of 2023 includes Drs. Krishna Parikh, Meetali Patel, Akanksha Saxena, Resham Khan, Sairah Johnson, and Deshanki Pandya. (Pictured below).

Rutgers’ CentraState family medicine resident physicians care for patients at the Freehold Family Health Center, a federally qualified health center (FQHC) that is the result of a unique collaboration between the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Family Medicine Residency Program at CentraState.

The Freehold Family Health Center reinforces the importance of community collaboration and prevention initiatives to address the burden of chronic disease and the wellbeing of the community as a whole.
