CentraState is the first hospital in New Jersey to achieve the five-year accreditation

June 25, 2024– The entry-to-practice nurse residency program at CentraState Medical Center has received accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), underscoring  that CentraState’s RN residency program complies with rigorous standards and follows the most up-to-date educational practices.

CentraState is the first hospital in New Jersey to achieve a five-year accreditation for an entry-to-practice nurse residency program.  The accreditation extends until June 30, 2029, and CCNE officials will revisit the hospital again in the fall of 2028 to begin the reaccreditation process.

First offered in 2012, the RN residency program at CentraState prepares newly licensed Registered Nurses for their dynamic role within the hospital setting. In 2022, the program was extended to a 12-month program that helps graduates transition to the hospital environment and provide high-level care through professional education, simulation laboratory skills and structured mentorship.

“The CentraState Medical Center RN residency program has consistently prepared new graduate RNs for their careers in nursing for over a decade,” said Cathleen Janzekovich, PhD, RN, MA, FHELA, MEDSURG-BC, NEA-BC, vice president of patient services and chief nursing officer. “This designation is an important milestone for our program and reflects the quality and commitment to education by our nursing department.”
