CentraState family physician awarded by NJAFP
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP––CentraState is pleased to announce that its Family Medicine Residency Program (FMRP) was highlighted at the annual New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians (NJAFP) Summer Assembly in Atlantic City on June 13.
Class of 2015 graduate Joan Medina, MD, received the “New Jersey Family Physician Resident of the Year” award for “Demonstration of the Outstanding Attributes of a Family Physician.” Dr. Medina is the third resident from CentraState’s Residency Program in the past eight years to earn this prestigious award among the 13 family medicine residency programs in the state.
In addition, Robert Kruse, MD, a third year resident and the current co-chief resident of CentraState’s FMRP, moved from the junior to the senior resident trustee position for the NJAFP. Meanwhile, second year resident, Krishanna Takemoto-Gentile, MD, was newly elected as the junior resident trustee to serve a two-year term for the NJAFP, and CentraState’s FMRP director, Maria Ciminelli, MD, FAAFP, moved from her previous position as board member to the elected position of secretary of the NJAFP.
CentraState Healthcare System is a nonprofit community health organization consisting of an acute-care hospital, a health and wellness campus, three senior living communities, a Family Medicine Residency Program, and a charitable foundation. CentraState’s teaching program is sponsored by Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
