CentraState Medical Center is proud to announce that it has earned the Center of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (COEMBS) accreditation by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), an internationally recognized health care leader committed to advancing the safety, efficacy and efficiency of surgical care worldwide.

COEMBS designation is awarded to facilities and its associated surgeons who have successfully completed the designation process, which enables patients to distinguish providers who have met the requirements for delivering high-quality perioperative and long-term follow-up care from those who have not. CentraState joins a global community of hospitals and surgeons committed to improving care quality and patient safety while advancing surgical efficacy through outcomes-based practices.

SRC’s accreditation program requirements and evaluation processes were developed in conjunction with industry leaders. To earn the designation, CentraState underwent a rigorous site inspection during which all aspects of its bariatric program’s surgical processes were closely examined and data on health outcomes was collected and reviewed. SRC determined CentraState has met or exceeded these comprehensive requirements and is truly committed to excellence.

“We are proud to have earned this accreditation. It is a testament to our steadfast focus on exceeding clinical benchmarks and guidelines,” says Earl Noyan, MD, a fellowship-trained, board-certified bariatric surgeon specializing in minimally-invasive bariatric surgery, including robotic surgery, and medical director of CentraState’s comprehensive bariatric surgery center. “Our bariatric team is committed to consistently delivering the safest, highest-quality care to improve the overall health and well-being of our bariatric patients.”

The comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Program at CentraState offers surgical services including gastric bypass surgery, gastric banding surgery, and sleeve gastrectomy surgery for people who are morbidly obese and meet other certain criteria. CentraState also offers robotic surgical technology for certain bariatric procedures. The bariatric weight-loss program team of registered dietitians, sleep and pulmonary specialists, nurses and other medical professionals offers patients options to meet differing lifestyles and health needs. They guide and support patients before, during and after surgery to prepare them for the changes to come and help them achieve desired results.
