After many months of challenges – and perseverance – facing the COVID-19 crisis, CentraState received its first supply of vaccines on December 17, 2020. Our staff, well-prepared for this moment, immediately jumped into action. That same day, the first hospital employees were vaccinated against a disease that has changed our world—an optimistic glimpse of a brighter tomorrow. Hundreds of staff received the vaccine that month.
Hear from some of our employees about why they were vaccinated:
“I feel much safer taking care of our patients without worrying about possibly getting sick. I am looking forward to the vaccine helping us get back to a somewhat normal life again.” • Mark Wiko, RRT, respiratory therapist, pictured center, was the first CentraState employee to be vaccinated against COVID-19
“Finally, a light at the end of the tunnel during the dark pandemic times. I am glad to have received a shot of hope with the COVID-19 vaccine. Kudos for those who dare to make dreams a reality through inspiration, diligence and willpower. Believe in science and the scientist.” • Ramanasri Kudipudi, MD, board-certified infectious disease specialist
“I am so relieved that we are finally able to get vaccinated to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and the patients we care for.” • Hazen Yu, RN, BSN, MBA, nurse manager
“The vaccine is more than a defense against COVID-19; it’s a symbol of hope that could be the turning point against this awful disease. As someone who was very ill with COVID-19, it fills me with optimism that we now have something that can prevent so much suffering.” • Damian Kulikowski, RN
Vaccinating our community continues to be our priority.
Since January, CentraState has successfully vaccinated tens of thousands of community members, an ongoing process that we continue to improve daily. This logistical feat—never seen before in our lifetimes —is something of a marvel as we begin building the steps toward to a healthier future.
