CPR and first aid classes are provided frequently during day and evening hours. All programs include:

CPR, AED, and First Aid Training Options

The Heartsaver CPR/AED (automated external defibrillator) course is open to the public, but it is especially useful for coaches and teachers, those with loved ones at risk for cardiac arrest, and those with a duty to respond (such as firefighters, police, airline personnel, security guards, and personal trainers). The course includes adult and child CPR, choking relief, use of barrier devices, and an AED.

Heartsaver First Aid is designed for those assigned to respond to emergencies in the workplace or community and those who want to learn first aid. Rescuers may be required to take this course as part of their employer’s efforts to comply with regulatory requirements. These rescuers may include corporate employees, security guards, airline personnel, lifeguards, and other individuals who want or need first aid training. Heartsaver First Aid teaches rescuers to effectively recognize, manage, and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical services personnel arrive. Course content includes general principles, medical emergencies, and injury emergencies. Optional modules include environmental emergencies with CPR and AED training.

This non-certification course is for parents, grandparents, family members of those at risk for cardiac arrest, or anyone who wishes to learn this life-saving skill. This modular awareness program teaches rescue skills in CPR and how to help a choking victim. The program presents information about the American Heart Association Chain of Survival and signs of choking.

The BLS (basic life support) for Healthcare Providers course satisfies requirements for health care workers such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician assistants, residents, fellows, medical or nursing students, aides, and allied health personnel, as well as lifeguards. This course teaches the skills of CPR for the adult, child, and infant, including the use of a bag-mask device, use of an AED, and relief of FBAO (foreign-body airway obstruction) in responsive and unresponsive victims.

The ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) Provider course is designed for emergency, intensive care, or critical care personnel; emergency medical providers such as physicians, nurses, EMTs, paramedics, respiratory therapists; and other professionals who may need to respond to a cardiovascular emergency. Emphasis is placed on the importance of proper CPR integration of basic life support skills and advanced cardiac life support intervention while encouraging effective team interaction and communication.

The PALS (pediatric advanced life support) course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children, including those working in emergency, intensive care, and critical care units. The systematic approach to pediatric assessment is emphasized, along with proper CPR integration and effective team communication and interaction.
