  • Recognize the indications and management for prolonged pulmonary air leaks.
  • Identify and review the surgical anatomy of Tracheotomy/Laryngectomy
  • Become an active part of the critical care team, with emphasis on patient outcomes.
  • Become familiar with the state of the art Lung Transplant.

About the Speakers

Ted Louie, MD

Dr. Ted Louie hails from Queens.  He attended the 7 year combined BS-MD program at CUNY, received his MD from Stony Brook Medical School, completed his internal medicine residency at Stony Brook, and did a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Maryland.  He has been practicing infectious disease, internal medicine, and travel medicine with Highland Park Medical Associates since 1996.  He has privileges at St. Peter’s, Robert Wood Johnson New Brunswick, and Centrastate Medical Center.

Besides seeing patients, he has given numerous lectures at local hospitals, has published 46 articles in the medical literature, and was honored to be the Middlesex County Medical Society President in 2009.  He has been featured on New Jersey Radio 101.5 on multiple occasions.

Vincent L. Moss, MD, FACS

Dr. Moss devotes himself to general thoracic surgery with special interest in minimally invasive thoracic procedures.  He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  As a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, he has an extensive experience in trauma surgery and critical care serving as a forward combat surgeon on multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Dr. Moss graduated from Temple University School of Medicine and completed his residency at St. Vincent’s Medical center, NY and a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at SUNY Brooklyn. One of his many honors includes being named “ABC World News Tonight Person of the Year”.   He was also awarded one of the highest honors from the American College of Surgeons, the ACS Humanitarian Award. Aaron C VanHise, DO

Dr. VanHise was born and raised in Lawrenceville NJ. He graduated from Rutgers University and received his medical degree from the NY College of Osteopathic Medicine at NY Institute of Technology.  He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ.   He then completed his General Cardiology training at Deborah Heart and Lung Center.  Dr. VanHise also received advanced sub-specialty training in Interventional Cardiology, Endovascular Medicine, and Venous Disease at Deborah Heart and Lung Center.   He is an adjunct professor and Clinical Instructor of the Cardiology Fellowship at Deborah Heart and Lung Center via the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He holds six board certifications – Internal Medicine, General Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Endovascular Medicine, and Vascular Interpretation. Dr VanHise’s specialties include high-risk coronary intervention/stenting; additionally, lower extremity atherosclerosis and non-healing ulcers with minimally invasive modalities such as venous ablation and peripheral angioplasty/stenting. A lifelong NJ resident, Dr VanHise continues to reside in central NJ with his family. He enjoys spending weekends in the Poconos, at the Jersey shore and riding his motorcycle. James A. Ware, Jr., M.D.

James Ware Jr. M.D. is the current Medical Director of the Primary Stroke Center at CentraState Medical  Center.  He was previously the Director of Comprehensive and Primary Stroke Centers at Capital Health.  He completed a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at New Brunswick.  He completed his Neurology training at Health Science Center at Brooklyn, NY.  He served as Chief Resident in his third year of training. He completed his internship at UMDNJ/NJ – Medical School, Newark, NJ.  He is a graduate of UMDNJ/NJ Medical School.   He is currently participating in research studies in Stroke and Clinical Neurophysiology.  He has appeared on several occasions in both radio and TV discussing various topics in Cerebral Vascular Disease. He has been a Neurologist for 23 years. He is currently in private practice with Bucks Mercer Neurology, which he founded in 2013.
